why sprout?

Sometimes I need to be reminded, I need to be told something I already know. Actually, I need to be re-inspired.

So you may well know alot about sprouting seeds and beans and all the health benefits of eating them, but it may be just one of those times when you need to hear it again. And then YES take action!

Why eat sprouts?  Did you know that they are the original ‘SUPER’ food, the most nutritious powerhouses you could add to your diet? They add vitamins and minerals, protein and essential fatty acids to your diet in easily digestible forms. During sprouting the minerals such as calcium and magnesium bind to proteins making them more easily absorbed by the body. They can be up to 30 times more nutritious than organic vegetables. Wow! that’s impressive.

Finally sprouts have an alkalizing effect on your body, which is thought to protect against diseases including cancer.

I sprouted green lentils, soaked them overnight, then rinsed them twice a day and only took 2-3 days till they looked like this …

lentil sprouts

Delicious mixed with chopped tomato, celery and cucumber, then drizzled with fresh lemon juice and olive oil, sprinkled with sea salt.

And here’s broccoli seeds in a sprouting jar…up to fifty times more cancer fighting benefits than broccoli alone. Let me know what you love to sprout?
